Sepsis - The Facts
Sepsis is an equal-opportunity killer
impacting people of all ages and levels of health.
Symptoms are non-specific. Patients present flu like symptoms such as shivering or aches/pains and so often goes undiagnosed
Diagnosis is too slow – Current clinical diagnosis turn-around times are 1-5 days depending on the pathogen type.
Consequently current protocol requires clinical staff to prescribe any patient that is suspected of having sepsis with a broad-spectrum antibiotic.
Broad-spectrum antibiotics are only successful 30% of the time!
